The Glen of Aherlow

Nestled between the Galtee Mountains to the south and the Sleivenamuck Ridge to the north, the Glen of Aherlow is an area of outstanding natural beauty and a paradise for walkers, whether for a stroll in its many woodlands or some serious hill walking on the slopes of the surrounding mountains.

The acidic soil of the glen makes it an area of great interest to botanists, with some rare heathers, lichens and ferns in particular to be found. There are several herds of wild deer in the area, which are most likely to be seen in the early evening time.
