A Bit of History

Our family is always on hand to ensure that each and every guest has a memorable and comfortable stay.

What was once a gracious country house at the center of a large estate is now a small hotel that retains the relaxed and friendly atmosphere of a private home.

The Byrne family purchased Ballyglass House in April 1996, having previously spent thirteen very successful years in the Fir Grove Hotel in Mitchelstown, County Cork. In more recent times the second generation of Byrnes has become more involved and in January 2019, Ruth along with her husband Liam took over the business.

When we first came to Ballyglass we immediately set about an extensive refurbishment and modernization programme, always conscious of the importance of keeping the best of the old while providing updated facilities and services for our guests.

We reopened in December 1996, and since then our family and our staff have welcomed thousands of guests, many of whom return to stay with us again and again.

We aim to make our guests feel relaxed and at home, whether they are with us for a night or a week, have just dropped in to enjoy a meal or a drink, or are with us to celebrate a special occasion such as a wedding.

No matter what the reason for your visit you can be sure of a genuine welcome and the friendly personal service that only a small family-run hotel can provide.
